How to Calculate Your Heart Rate Zones
The most accurate method uses the Karvonen formula, which accounts for your resting heart rate:
Target HR = ((MHR - Resting HR) — % Intensity) + Resting HR
For example, a 30-year-old with a resting heart rate of 60 bpm:
- Max HR = 220 - 30 = 190 bpm
